2010 President's Winter Message

Friends,

It seems just yesterday that we watched Dick Clark welcoming 2010 as the ball was lowered at Times Square.  Now here we are with Easter just around the corner and before long the wildflowers will be replaced by Bakersfield’s summer temperature.  The heat will arrive and before you know it the kids or grandkids are home for summer vacation.

2010 has already turned out to be a very interesting and challenging year for us all.   As everyone focuses on the current economic nightmare that America & the World are in, many are left to wonder if there is actually light at the end of the tunnel.  I’m here to tell you there is light & hope.  There is nothing a cup of coffee, a friend and a motorcycle can’t cure.  I’m not claiming we can solve the world’s problems, but we can help you forget about them for a while.

The start of a new year also means the installation of new club officers & ride captains who will work together behind the scenes to make your experience with us outstanding.  With so many great ideas for rides it’s difficult to narrow it down to only a few rides per month, however the ride captains have worked very hard to develop a monthly ride calendar to please everyone.  We are always looking for new places to eat, see and visit, so if you know of one make sure you let us know.  If you join us on a ride & you enjoy the ride then we’ll take full credit for it, however if you didn’t enjoy the ride, then you probably weren’t riding with us.

This has been an exciting year and I look forward to serving you as your President for 2010.  The biggest obstacles & challenges I face will be to bring new ideas to the group & to keep the members not only interested but also involved.  Bakersfield Street Riders is not only one of the most active motorcycle clubs in town, we also have some of the most experienced riders who are ready to share tips and ideas for rides.

Remember, for the latest ride schedule check out the Home page.  If you are thinking about joining the club, but first want to check us out, plan on joining us for one of our weekly dinner or weekend rides.

I hope to see you at one of our events.

Ride Safe,

Albert Lopez

President
